When it comes to eclectic mixtures of genres and formulas, I think that mobile gets quite a few of them. There’s something about the format that encourages experimentation if only to stand out from the pack. Case in point there’s today’s mix of action, puzzle and farming sim with Super Farming Boy!

In Super Farming Boy, you play as the titular Super who has to rescue his mom and friends from the evil Korpo corporation who are forcing you to work the land. With your mom and friends up for *****, you’ll have to take this Stardew Valley-esque fantasy gone rotten and save enough to buy them back first!

Yes, this is definitely an eccentric set-up for any release. What’s even stranger is that there’s not a tool in sight as you dig and tend to the land. That’s because in Super Farming Boy you are the tool, as you transform into a shovel, hammer, and watering can!

Farm fun

Oh, and yes, there’s also plenty of action to be had. Whether that’s maximising farming combos (yes, really) taking on bosses that threaten your crops or dealing with all the weird and wonderful stuff that comes your way, Super Farming Boy has plenty of curveballs to throw your way.

How weird are these seasons? Try Spring, Winteria, Volcanic, Radioactive and the even more intense upcoming seasons Underwater and Timewarp! Yes, you’ll really need to put the Super in Super Farming Boy to make your harvest on time in these sorts of conditions!

Unfortunately, at the moment, the zany world of Super Farming Boy is only available on iOS, so Android players may be a bit out of luck. Fortunately, there are still plenty of interesting releases to try out, as our recent Ahead of the Game article on Palmon: Survival can attest!
