The Brandywine Valley SPCA said it got help from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Harbor Patrol as well as the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services’ Fireboat crew.

In the video, officers take an airboat across the icy river toward the deer, which is slipping and flailing on the ice.

“With cold temperatures and icy conditions making the rescue tricky, this dedicated team of heroes worked together to safely bring the deer to solid ground, where it got its footing and ran off,” the Brandywine Valley SPCA wrote on
