With the Deal Signed, You Can Forget the Nintendo Switch 2 and the Xbox’s Not So Secret Version, Sony are Going for Gold Next Generation

The PS6 may just be the next big thing in gaming. Be it exclusivity or free games through subscription services, console wars are a big aspect of the gaming world right now. PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo—there are many options available for gaming fans, and each comes with some unique qualities. However, PlayStation and Xbox stand above the rest.

But sometimes fans want something that is compact yet powerful. On the list of handheld devices, there are many popular ones: the Nintendo Switch 2, the Valve Steam Deck, the Asus Rog Ally, and many more. As things stand, the long-haul console company of Sony is about to etch its name in the list once again.

Is the reported PS6 handheld version going to be a worthy successor to the legendary PSP?

According to credible leaker and YouTuber RedGaming Tech, the PS6 is going to have a handheld version besides its usual base variant.

As per another leaker, Moore’s Law Is *****, Sony has signed a deal with the famous chipset manufacturing company AMD. That means, if this rumor comes out to be true, then the handheld version of the PS6 is going to be powered by highly capable AMD CPUs and GPUs. So, playing high-end AAA titles on this console in high framerate and resolution won’t be a problem.

However, the capacity or versions of the processors and graphic cards haven’t been finalized yet, but everything is going to be from AMD. Just like PS5, Sony also talked with NVIDIA and other vendors but settled for AMD.

Although this is not the first time Sony is playing its trump cards in handheld console markets, who doesn’t know about the legendary PSP that revolutionized the meaning of handheld gaming? Also, right now, PlayStation Portal is available, but it is solely based on cloud gaming.

PS6 will carry forward the legacy of PS5.

According to RedGaming Tech, the PS6 is going to be the most powerful console of this generation. That’s why it’s not surfacing very soon, as of now. The rumored PS5 Pro is yet to be released. So, it will take around 4-5 years more for PS6 to become a reality, at least in 2028, not before that. The company is emphasizing more on ray tracing and path tracing, tripling both of them, to make the upcoming console the most powerful one of this generation.

Sony can also come up with a lower variant containing cheaper hardware, just like the Xbox Series S. So, a PS6 Lite may not be just a myth anymore.

What’s your opinion on the handled version of PS6? Let us know in the comment section.
