Sony and several LA-based PlayStation studios donate to wildfire relief efforts

Sony and a number of PlayStation studios have announced plans to donate to the Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts.

Fires that started last Tuesday have killed at least 25 people, displaced thousands and destroyed over 12,000 structures.

Sony said this week that it’s donating $5m to support first responders, community and relief and rebuilding efforts, and other assistance programs.

A joint statement from Sony chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida and president and COO Hiroki Totoki reads: “Los Angeles has been the home of our entertainment businesses for more than 35 years. We will continue work with our local business leadership to determine how best Sony Group can support relief and recovery efforts in the days ahead.”

LA-based PlayStation studios Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games and Santa Monica Studio have also released statements in which they confirmed plans to donate to relief efforts.
