Getting on to the ferry from Split to Hvar in a glum mood, I lug a suitcase weighed down by impulsive purchases and worry that the final destination on my ********* holiday won’t measure up to those before.

Slowing down to relax on the beaches of Croatia’s most popular island seems like an anticlimactic end to nearly three weeks of non-stop fun.
