It's not the most obvious comparison point, but the first thing I thought of when I saw Duet Night Abyss was Final Fantasy 8. While the upcoming gacha ARPG puts twists on Genshin and Zenless Zone Zero's combat, and shares voice talent with Metaphor: ReFantazio, its two-character narrative - at various points, you swap from one protagonist to another - reminds me of hopping between Squall and Laguna in Square's 1999 classic. After a technical test last year, the new Duet Night Abyss beta sign ups are finally open. If you're looking for an alternative to the Hoyoverse anime staples, this could be the one.
