Big Bash League: Mahli Beardman’s Perth Scorchers debut confirmed as Ashton Turner chooses to bowl first

Perth Scorchers captain Ashton Turner has won the toss and chosen to field, hard-launching teenage debutant Mahli Beardman.

Perth must win both of their next two games, tonight against the Thunder and on Saturday against Adelaide Strikers at home, to be any chance of squeezing into a fifth consecutive finals series.

The Scorchers confirmed The West ***********’s exclusive report from Monday that teenager Beardman will debut in the clash.

Beardman has been added to a lightning-fast pace attack that also includes Lance Morris, who returns after being managed by Cricket Australia.

Jhye Richardson is out after making the call to go for shoulder surgery and Andrew Tye has been dropped after taking 0-62 from his four overs in Saturday’s defeat to Sydney Sixers.
