Big Bash League: Mitch Marsh sent packing for golden duck in first Perth Scorchers game in three seasons

Mitch Marsh has made a golden duck that has taken the air out of Optus Stadium in his first Perth Scorchers innings in three years.

The axed Test all-rounder was trapped on the pads by Will Sutherland from his first ball and given out. He walked off immediately, with only a short consideration to reviewing.

The ball appeared to be hitting Marsh in line and comfortably going on to hit the stumps.

Marsh’s return to his hometown club had been hotly anticipated, but underwhelmed a crowd set to build above 30,000, despite a horror start time of 4.15pm on a Tuesday.

The veteran received a warm applause when his name was called out pre-match and when he came out to bat.

Earlier, he opened up on his return, which came a week after he was dropped from the Test team and replaced by all-rounder Beau Webster.

“It’s been a long time, I obviously love playing for the Scorchers and it has been really nice to come home after a big series, an amazing series to be a part of. I love playing here,” Marsh told Fox Cricket.

The West *********** favourite has brought his trademark sense of humour back home, joking he was a “former Test star” when introduced on the broadcast.
