Using One Device Will Get You Permanently Banned from Overwatch 2

Console players have been plagued by the issue of Ximming for quite some time now. This is done with the help of an XIM device. With this, players can use a keyboard and a mouse to play games on consoles. This has become very common when it comes to playing competitive shooter games.

Ximming in common in games such as Apex Legends

Ximming is mostly employed to dominate other console players in a multiplayer game. Moreover, since the XIM device cannot be detected most of the time, many players tend to use this. The XIM device has become common for games such as Apex Legends, and Call of Duty to name a few.

Overwatch 2 players will be banned for using an XIM device

Ximming has also been a headache for Overwatch players. Overwatch 2 console players face problems at the hands of players who are using the XIM device. By using this device, these players get more accurate shots and become a difficult target for others. As such, Overwatch 2 players have been asking for an anti-cheat for quite some time now.

The developers have finally taken note of the players’ complaints. A few days after the release of Overwatch 2 Season 10, they added that players using Ximming will have to face the consequences going forward.

“Figuring out which players are using unapproved peripherals has been a challenge for us to overcome.”

They finally overcame this challenge, and have come up with a ban to prevent this situation. This ban will be focused on those top-ranked players who have faced multiple reports of using XIM devices.

As the developers have collected data on players using Ximming, going forward these players will have to face consequences for using it.

How will the Ximming ban work in Overwatch 2?

The Ximming ban will start from Season 11 and will have two phases to it. If a player is caught for the first time, they will come under the first phase. In this phase, the players will get a week-long competitive ban for using the XIM device. This ban, however, will not be extended for the Quick Play, and players will be able to ****** for it.

If players are caught using the XIM device after their first ban, they will come under the second phase. In this phase, players will face a season-long competitive ban.

It is important to remember that while playing in the Quick Play, XIM users will be put with against other players using a keyboard and a mouse. Moreover, they will not be able to use the aim assist feature.
