Luzerne County home invasion leaves police looking for two suspects

JENKINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— It’s every homeowners worst nightmare and it happened to someone in a local development.

Fortunately the victim made it out alive, but who was trying to invade her home on Thursday night remains a mystery.

28/22 News Reporter Gianna Galli is following the developing story out of Jenkins Township.

People living in Susquehanna Estates in Jenkins Township are on edge Friday after one of the homes was invaded early last night.

Luckily the victim made it out alive.

What you just saw was a terrifying moment for a Jenkins Township home owner.

Two people wearing masks and heavy coats stood outside this home located in a section of Susquehanna Estates at around 6:00pm Thursday.

Both their sex and identity are unknown at this time.

The person in front is holding what appears to be a Christmas tree and another unknown object in their hand.

Within a few minutes someone inside the home came outside.

The first individual asks if “There is a Joann home,” and the resident answers with “I’m sorry this is the wrong house.”

What happens next is anybody’s worst nightmare.

As the victim turns around to head back inside, the first individual forces their way inside the home holding an object of what appears to be a gun in the right hand.

The second suspect proceeds to stand outside before eventually entering as the victim cries for help.

According to Jenkins Township Police, the victim was held at gunpoint before she was pushed into the bathroom.

Police say the victim heard the two individuals go upstairs of the home that’s when she ran outside went to a neighbors home here in the development asked for help and called the police.

Jenkins Township Police arrived on scene within minutes, but the two suspects could be seen escaping before they got there leaving their whereabouts a mystery.

An eyewitness spotted the pair walking around the neighborhood before showing up at the victim’s home.

Police say an investigation is now ongoing and the victim is unharmed.

Police are requesting anyone with information to contact the Jenkins Township Police Department at 570-654-1281.
