Tesla’s 2024 *********** sales decline detailed

Tesla couldn’t recover in the final month of 2024 to reverse a year-long sales decline, ending the year with less than 40,000 deliveries to *********** customers.

According to data published by the Electric Vehicle Council (EVC), Tesla delivered 3593 vehicles to *********** customers in December, representing a 63.9 per cent increase on the same month a year prior.

It was a rare win for the electric vehicle (EV) specialist, which recorded a decline in deliveries across nine of the year’s 12 months.

By the end of the year, Tesla delivered 38,347 vehicles in Australia, a 16.9 per cent drop on its 2023 figure, where the brand experienced huge growth in the local market.

Earlier this year, Tesla heavily discounted both the Model Y and Model 3 in Australia by thousands of dollars, however it appears this did not spur on sales of the two vehicles to reach previous heights.

An update to the Model Y – codenamed Juniper – is expected in 2025, though it remains to be seen whether it’ll bring a sales increase or merely soften the blow.

that it had sold 1.1 per cent fewer vehicles globally in 2024 compared to 2023.

In total, it delivered 1,789,226 EVs worldwide last year, down on the record figure of 1,808,581 12 months prior, and representing the first time in the brand’s history its annual figure has declined.

It also narrowly avoided being overtaken in the EV sales race by BYD, which delivered 1,764,992 battery-only vehicles globally.

While Australia’s full 2024 sales are to be announced on January 6, Tesla is expected to remain on top in the EV market.
