Arrowhead Game Studios did a great job at designing the vehicle’s mechanics and controls, however, the studio missed one thing: a parking brake. The vehicle does feature a handbrake, but that doesn’t stop the vehicle from rolling down a slope when it is empty. The FRV comes with a mounted MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun (Image via Arrowhead Game Studios) To be as iconic as Halo’s Warthog, the FRV needs a Park gear or a parking brake. A clip shared by a Helldivers 2 player on This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up proves why FRV not having this feature is its greatest setback. The Fast Recon Vehicle in Helldivers 2 needs a parking brake The M-102 Fast Recon Vehicle is a lightly armored reconnaissance vehicle that first made an appearance on Calypso when Illuminate launched its first attack on Super Earth colonies. Initially, the vehicle could only be found scattered around the map but very soon, it was made available as a Stratagem. This vehicle serves as an effective tool that will allow players to quickly move around the map and complete objectives. The FRV uses an R-N-D-1-2 gear selector layout. The R, N, and stands for Reverse, Neutral, and Drive respectively, which makes sense. The first gear is for high torque, low speeds while the second gear is for low torque, high speeds. What’s missing in this setup is a Park mode or a parking brake. As shown in this viral clip, this player left their FRV on a surface that was slightly elevated and the FRV rolled back and went into the water. Unfortunately, the FRV is also not capable of swimming, just like the Helldivers. There is a way to switch on that setup as players just need to toggle the Auto Reverse Vehicles option in the Accessibility menu in the Settings. The FRV needs better driving mechanics The FRV’s driving mechanics are complex for some players (Image via Arrowhead Game Studios) The FRV does come with a handbrake, however, many have complained that it does nothing to keep the FRV still when it is parked on slopes. Traditionally, the Warthog in the Halo series could be controlled through the mouse, a system that was new at the time and yet, simple. The driving mechanics play a key role in determining a vehicle’s capability. It’s not like the FRV is bad, it’s just that it could be improved, especially because the terrains in Helldivers 2 are mostly uneven surfaces. The FRV is a great addition to the game and players must get it as it saves a lot of time during missions. It can be purchased for 25,000 Requisition Slips but only after you reach level 25. It has a call-in time of 10.5 seconds and a cooldown time of 480 seconds. Unlike the Mechs, the FRV can be used unlimited times during a mission. The Park gear or a parking brake is a necessary addition since players have to often hop out of the vehicle to call in some Stratagems. This will prevent the FRV from rolling away from the players.
