After its debut on December 6th, NetEase Games’ Marvel Rivals has become one of the most popular live-service titles that we’ve seen in 2024. The game is constantly breaking records and setting new standards for the hero-shooter genre.

Marvel Rivals features a roster of Marvel characters that we’ve all grown to love over the years. One of them is Scarlett Witch, and she’s one of the strongest duelists in the game. While many players have called for a nerf to her ultimate, it might need a buff instead.

If you’re someone who doesn’t have good aiming abilities, Scarlet Witch is the character to pick up in Marvel Rivals because her main attack hunts down an opponent, draining their life with the chaos magic.

It’s an incredibly overpowered attack, but Wanda can make things worse with bursts of chaotic magic as her secondary attack and a barrier that can dish out damage as long as your opponent is inside it.

What’s really special about Wanda is her ultimate attack, which is one of the most broken ones in the NetEase game. She can unleash an explosion of chaos magic across her current location, and most of the characters can’t survive this.

Scarlet Witch’s ultimate can prove to be a pure game changer when used correctly. However, it’s not free from issues. The problem is that Wanda screams “PURE CHAOS” when she uses her ultimate, and this ends up alerting all enemies across the map. This just ruins any kind of sneak attack.

Wanda also can’t use her ultimate in an area that’s not in her sight. This means that players have to expose themselves to use it. While casting her ultimate, Wanda is also quite vulnerable, which gives melee heroes a chance to shut her down. Players who are Peni, Wolverine, and Hulk mains can easily target Wanda before she even finishes casting her ultimate.

Scarlet Witch’s ultimate might look extremely deadly on paper, but it can’t hold up in the current meta due to its issues. NetEase Games is still trying to find the perfect balance in Marvel Rivals, so let’s hope the developers take a look at her ultimate and make it much more usable.

Cheaters are ruining Marvel Rivals for everyone

While Marvel Rivals is an incredible experience and a game that Overwatch 2 certainly needs to learn from, it hasn’t proven to be a smooth ride as many had hoped.

Multiple gamers in the community have reported encounters against cheaters in Marvel Rivals. Even streamers such as bogur and Eskay have run into them in ranked matches.

It’s quite mind-boggling how the game hasn’t even been out for a full month, but some are using cheats to beat others in the game.

60% of my games were cheaters today and it was NOT fun

if they don’t do something about this soon, the game will be unplayable in like a month

It’s not the first time we’ve seen cheaters in an online competitive game. However, NetEase must address this problem as soon as possible if it’s looking to maintain the hero shooter’s player base.

Marvel Rivals has been receiving a bunch of updates lately, but more events and content might not prove to be enough if players feel their matches are getting wrecked by cheaters.
