Daniels out with illness as Hawks down Heat in NBA

Playing without *********** defensive wizard Dyson Daniels could not prevent the Atlanta Hawks continuing their impressive NBA season with a 120-110 win over the Miami Heat.

Regular starter Daniels was missing through illness as the Hawks (17-15) closed out a four-game homestand with a third straight win on Saturday.

Jalen Johnson scored 28 points – two shy of his career high set in the previous game against Chicago – while star point guard Trae Young added his 22nd double-double of the season, with 11 points and a whopping 15 assists.

De’Andre Hunter contributed 26 points in his 14th consecutive game with at least 15 points coming off the bench.

For the Heat, Tyler Herro scored 28 points and dished out 10 assists and Bam Adebayo added 17 points and 10 rebounds.

It was the Heat’s fourth game in a row without star Jimmy Butler, who sat out for what the team called “return to competition reconditioning.”

The Heat shot 44.4 per cent from the field, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the efficient Hawks who hit over half of their shots, 51.2 per cent from the field.

The runaway NBA leader in steals this season, 21-year-old Daniels has proven a hit with the Hawks since his offseason trade from New Orleans, averaging 13.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.1 steals.
