After the initial stumble, the game well and truly lived up to expectations and marked the most successful launch in the history of the franchise. However, there is a dark side to this game as well. With the return of some beloved maps and some intriguing new features, many thought the game had the makings of a winning formula. However, the initial enthusiasm for the title appears to have subsided considerably, and the main reason for this decline is the over-infestation by hackers. But why haven’t the developers found a solution yet? An ex-CoD employee has the answer to this question. Former Call of Duty developer reveals the real reason behind Treyarch’s inability to tackle the hackers Cheating is nothing new in the Call of Duty franchise. Just like any other multiplayer shooter, this long-hailed franchise is also exploited by the woes of cheaters and hackers. However, it seems like the exploitation has reached a whole new level in the case of ****** Ops 6. If you want to know why Call of Duty has so many more hacking issues than any other game, I’ll tell you. I worked at Activision for 4 years. Super simple. You have 3 studios (Sledgehammer, Infinity Ward, Treyarch) who don’t want to work together, who basically start from scratch… This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up — Justin Taylor (@TheSmarmyBum) This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Even after imposing the ban hammer over 19k players, hacking is still a persisting issue. Due to the massacre caused by the hackers, even popular streamers are leaving the game. So, why has Treyarch not been able to fix this? The former director of Digital Marketing at Activision, Justin Taylor, knows the “simple” reason. A new CoD game appears on store shelves every year. Activision has three main development teams that rotate, with Raven, Infinity Ward, and Treyarch taking turns leading each year to maintain this yearly rhythm. Taylor claims that the chaos is being caused by this pipeline. However, one thing we have to keep in mind is that Taylor was assigned to the Digital Marketing department, which has nothing to do with the technical team. So, he is not absolutely correct with his take. Still, his allegation towards the relentless annual cycle makes a lot of sense. As Call of Duty 2025 is rumored to be already in development, and as it is going to be a ****** Ops installment, Treyarch is going to put hardly any effort into ****** Ops 6 anymore. ****** Ops 6 is losing players rapidly ****** Ops 6 is going through a tough time. | Credit: Activision. It appears that Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 has seen a significant decline in player numbers in recent days. Over 60,000 players have left the game in the last 30 days, according to This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up , which is 37% of its typical post-launch player count. A similar pattern has been seen by the peak player count, which surpassed 300k in November and has since fallen below 200k. Despite this, ****** Ops 6 remains a dominant game on consoles, ranking as the second most played game on the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Numerous fans have given various reasons for the drop. First of all, the potential usage of AI-generated content in Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 caused a lot of ire among fans. Some people also believe that the game is less engaging for players because it has fewer events than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. There are also no significant updates planned because the upcoming season is still a long way off. Now it’s up to Treyarch on how they are going to shape up its path in the coming days.
