On many occasions, the Helldivers 2 community had to make social media posts specifically for those who still don’t understand the game. The game features three kinds of enemy factions: Automaton, Terminid, and Illuminate.

All these factions have different kinds of enemies so players need to understand the varying Stratagems that must be used against them. Some Stratagems that are highly effective against one faction aren’t always the best for other factions. With the introduction of the Illuminate, many players are still struggling to understand which is the best Stratagem against these new enemies.

There is one particular Stratagem in the game that is hated by everyone. Beginners find the A/M-12 Mortar Sentry quite fascinating because of its functions but these players don’t realize that this Stratagem causes unnecessary teamkilling.

Helldivers 2 players need to stop using this Stratagem on Illuminate missions

Many Helldivers 2 players are once again using this one Stratagem that should not be touched under any circumstances. Many new players have joined the Super Earth forces after the introduction of the Illuminate but they must understand that A/M-12 Mortar Sentry is not a good Stratagem for these missions. A player on the r/helldivers2 subreddit has shared a post asking players to not use the Stratagem on Illuminate missions.

This Stratagem is strictly prohibited on Terminid missions because most Terminid units rely on close combat to take out the players. The Mortar Sentry is not programmed to avoid friendly fire so when players are surrounded by enemies, the impact will also take out friendlies. This is the same reason why players shouldn’t use this on Illuminate missions as the Illuminate voteless are zombies that swarm players.

The Mortar Sentry will unnecessarily waste your reinforcements, so pick something else, like the Machine Gun or Gatling Turrets. Plus the Mortar Sentry can’t take down flying units, so it’s mostly useless on Illuminate missions. For Automaton missions, players can use the Mortar Sentry as most of the Automaton units attack from a distance.

, game director Mikael Eriksson explained that the enemies players are currently fighting are the Illuminate Vanguard Fleet, so more is yet to come. Further in the interview, Eriksson talked about some tricks that will help players in taking down these new enemies.

Eriksson suggested that players should bring anti-tank stratagems to take down armored units such as the Illuminate spawn ships, encounter ships, and the Harvester enemies. For primary weapons, he said that players should use assault rifles.

Plus, the Fast Recon Vehicle will help players in getting away from enemies quickly. If you struggle to take out zombie-like Illuminate voteless, then make sure you take the Guard Dog with you as it can take them out in a single shot.
