Price of petrol in Perth and Mandurah to jump by 31 cents on Christmas Day

Motorists have been told to fuel up today before the price of petrol surges by 31 cents on Christmas Day in a Grinch-like move.

Perth and Mandurah’s weekly fuel cycle is at its lowest point on Christmas Eve, with the most expensive day of the cycle — Wednesday — coinciding with Christmas this year.

From 6am, the average unleaded petrol price will jump to 194.7 cents per litre, with many stations charging more than $2 a litre.

Caltex will charge up to 213.9 cpl, EG Ampol prices will be as high as 211.9 cpl and Ampol, 7-Eleven and Coles Express/Reddy Express are all set to charge up to 209.9 cpl.

The cheapest petrol on Tuesday is available at Metro Bassendean at 156.5 cpl.

South of the river, the cheapest fuel — excluding Costco stations that require a membership — is EG Ampol South Lake at 157.3 cpl.

The cheapest fuel in Perth on Wednesday will be at Liberty Landsdale at 157. cpl, with Burk Camillo selling fuel at 159.3 cpl on Christmas — the lowest price in Perth’s southern suburbs.

Although Perth won’t be spared from a Christmas fuel price hike, there will still be 30 stations selling petrol below 163 cpl.
