Thanks to Activision, the Single-Greatest Flaw in New Call of Duty Games Leaves Massive Plot Holes for Cod 2025

Despite some serious problems, Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 has become the CoD title with the biggest launch in the entire franchise. Fans were pretty disappointed with the new movement mechanics, launch maps, server issues, and many more. Still, people showed unfathomable love for this game.

Now that ****** Ops 6 is in the market, what’s next for this long-hailed franchise? Yes, you guessed it right: CoD 2025. With ****** Ops 6‘s success and rumors suggesting the upcoming title to be in the ****** Ops series, a grand stage has already been set up for CoD 2025. But there is one problem.

Call of Duty‘s continuity error can pose a grave problem for future titles

Call of Duty has always been a treat for FPS lovers. Even many players started their journey with one of the golden generation titles of CoD. Despite some occasional flaws, every game in the series never missed an opportunity to make us fall in love with the franchise. But one thing CoD has been doing all wrong for a long time is lack of continuity.

and asked a strange question that actually makes a lot of sense. In that post, we can see two photos from Modern Warfare 3 and ****** Ops 2, respectively. Those two games’ timelines are two years apart (2023 and 2025, respectively). But there is a huge difference in technological aspects.

So, a genuine question arises: How on earth has technology progressed so rapidly in just two years? Modern Warfare 3 was released in 2023, and ****** Ops 2 was released in 2012. But both games have just two years of difference in in-game timelines. So, Activision couldn’t maintain the needed continuity. Fans have the same complaint as well.

There are so many continuity errors in the whole franchise. For example, the invisibility camo in Warzone is taken from ****** Ops 2, but isn’t that camo too futuristic to be used in 2025 (BO2‘s in-game year)? Now, the developers can retcon a few events to maintain transparency, but then the value of the actual timeline won’t exist anymore.

These errors are not going to be a problem for CoD 2025 only, but also for all the CoD titles in the future. Because the more the developers leave timeline loopholes, the more dedicated fans will find out those errors. And if the developers don’t fix these errors, then it will create more continuity problems in the future.

CoD 2025 will pick up from where ****** Ops 2 left off

It’s getting pretty confusing as far as the timeline of the CoD games is concerned if the recent leaks are to be believed. According to @ForwardLeaksAlt, the upcoming CoD title is set to be placed just right after the events of ****** Ops 2. With ****** Ops 6 just being released, it is unclear why Activision chose BO2‘s story to continue instead of BO6‘s.

The 2025 ****** Ops game is said to pick up where 2012’s ****** Ops 2, which is set in 2025, left off, with the game taking place in the 2030s, while 2024’s ****** Ops 6 is set in the 1990s against the backdrop of the Gulf War.

According to reports, it carries on the ****** Ops plot from there, with the main character being David Mason from ****** Ops 2. The new body shield and Omnimovement, along with a few modifications like wall jumping and human shields with grenades attached that can be thrown at adversaries, are among the ****** Ops 6 mechanics that are rumored to be returning. Meanwhile, an eight-player mode is reportedly added in zombies mode.

****** Ops 6‘s development took four years, the longest for a mainline Call of Duty game to date, according to developer Treyarch. After 2023’s Modern Warfare 3, possibly the worst-received campaign in Call of Duty history, expectations are high.

Activision will once again have to deal with difficult questions regarding the game’s worth as a complete sequel, assuming the rumors that Call of Duty will be another ****** Ops game next year, following this year’s ****** Ops 6, are accurate.
