Surprisingly Okami 2 has been announced

In a surprising announcement during The Game Awards, Clover Studio‘s Okami is getting a full-fledged sequel spearheaded by series creator Hideki Kamiya.

Unfortunately, we didn’t see much of the game, just a short teaser, but we’re sure we’ll see more in the not-so-distant future. Of course, this isn’t the most surprising of reveals following a poll earlier this year asking fans what games they wanted to see get remastered, rebooted, or a whole sequel.

While Dino Crisis was the frontrunner, Okami wasn’t entirely dead in the water in that regard. Besides the poll, it’s a well-documented hidden gem to many who feel it needs another shot. Meanwhile, Kamiya expressed immense interest in bringing the series back from the IP graveyard.

Okami 2 has no public release date just yet.
