Arrowhead Game Studios did an amazing job with the Omens of Tyranny update by introducing the Illuminate faction from the first Helldivers game, however, this wasn’t the only enemy players were expecting to see from the first game. The Omens of Tyranny update kicked off Illuminate’s invasion (Image via Arrowhead Game Studios) This update primarily focused on Illuminate’s invasion, putting Terminids and Automatons threats on hold for now. Over the past few months, the advancements within the Terminid faction convinced the community that this massive Terminid unit will be added to the game in a major update, but unfortunately, players will have to wait more to see it in the game. Arrowhead Game Studios still didn’t add Hive Lords in Helldivers 2 The Omens of Tyranny update added various new enemies to Helldivers 2, however, Arrowhead still hasn’t added one Terminid enemy everyone was waiting for: Hive Lords. This terrifying unit is capable of perforating the entire crust of a planet with tunnels, making way for other small Terminid units. Thanks to the periodic trembling on Terminid-infested planets, many players were convinced that Arrowhead was teasing Hive Lords. Hive Lords aren’t completely missing from the second game as players have come across skeletons of Hive Lords on planets under Terminid control. The community is eager to see this enemy on the battlefield, but taking it down will certainly be not easy. Hive Lords mostly navigate under the ground, so it is difficult to take a clear shot at them. The Omens of Tyranny update added the Illuminate The Helldivers 2 community was eagerly waiting for the Illuminate (Image via Arrowhead Game Studios) During The Game Awards 2024, Arrowhead unveiled the This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up for Omens of Tyranny, a brand new major update for Helldivers 2 that brings back the Illuminate faction from the first game. The in-game major order has ordered the community to defend Calypso, a planet with a brand-new urban environment. It has been confirmed that what players are currently fighting on this planet is the Illuminate Vanguard Fleet as more deadly, stronger Illuminate enemies are yet to be revealed. This super-advanced race of aliens is no joke as some of the enemies, Harvesters for example, are capable of taking out players in a single shot. Fighting this faction will not be easy but to make things easier, players get some brand-new toys like the Fast Recon Vehicle (FRV), the game’s first vehicle that can carry four players and also comes with a rear turret. The battle on Calypso currently feels like a zombie game as Illuminate has used mind control to turn innocent civilians into deadly Illuminate soldiers. Game director Mikael Eriksson has suggested that players should use anti-tank stratagems to take down things like Illuminate spawn ships, encounter ships, and the Harvesters as they all have shields. To make things easier, make sure you take the Guard Dog with you as it is capable of quickly taking out the brainwashed civilians who mostly engage in close combat. The addition of the Illuminate has boosted Helldivers 2‘s active player count but that shouldn’t stop Arrowhead from evolving other factions in the game. The Hive Lords is the perfect place to start if the studio wishes to begin a new Terminid storyline.
