Lucky Fazzalari: Perth teenager allegedly stabbed to death in Thailand by classmate

A Perth teenager has died in Thailand after a fistfight escalated into an alleged stabbing attack outside a grocery store.

Police said 14-year-old Lucky Fazzalari was stabbed in the back by another teen in the Sattahip district about 180km south of Bangkok about 8.30pm on Tuesday.

Lucky, who lived in Perth’s northern suburbs with his dad and siblings and attended primary and high school in Clarkson, reportedly moved to Thailand last year to be with his mother and to learn the language and culture.

It is alleged he was stabbed by a classmate with a fruit knife after an ongoing dispute, local media said.

Director of the Sattahip police station Col. Tanapol Klinkesorn said Lucky had arranged to meet his Thai classmate, also 14, outside the store over messaging app Line.

Police said that after the punch-up began, the accused grabbed the knife before stabbing Lucky.

The accused fled the scene but an hour later went voluntarily to a police station with his parents.

Lucky was reportedly found on the floor at the entrance to the grocery store with the knife still in his back.

Sattahip police said the alleged killer had been charged with a weapons offence and with causing fatal physical harm to another person.

He was reportedly released on bail, at the cost of 10,000 baht (AUD$460) by the Chonburi Juvenile and Family Court.

The victim’s *********** father Tony Fazzalari told 7NEWS the family was “shocked” and “devastated”, describing Lucky as a “beautiful kid” who was loved by his parents and his sisters.

Jessica Fazzalari, Lucky’s step-sister, said he was a young boy who was “naturally talented at sport” and who could “achieve anything”.

“He was going to an international private school over there, we never thought his life would be in danger or so we were just shocked when we heard about this,” she said.

His father was scheduled to fly to Thailand on Friday night in order to attend the boy’s ******** over the coming days.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed it was providing consular assistance to the family of an *********** who died in Thailand.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” a spokesperson said.

Police are still continuing their investigation into the stabbing attack.
