After Almost One Week of Marvel Rivals, We All Agree One Annoying Hero Needs a Nerf

NetEase Games’ latest third-person hero shooter video game, Marvel Rivals, was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S last week, and it’s safe to say that it has gathered the attention of gamers worldwide. The 6v6 round-based PvP game provides players with an impressive lineup of 33 characters from Marvel Comics.

NetEase Games aimed to make all the heroes balanced, however, some heroes have proved to be much more powerful. One such example is Iron Fist as this character is so broken that it is impossible for players to defeat Iron Fist in a 1v1 battle. During close combat, no hero can defend against the character’s wild combination of punches and kicks.

This one hero in Marvel Rivals needs a nerf

After playing NetEase Games’ Marvel Rivals for the past week, the entire community wants the studio to nerf Iron Fist. Out of the 18 duelist heroes in the game, Iron Fist has proved to be the most powerful because of his broken mechanics. Players are very frustrated as the character is just way too powerful and once he starts punching, it’s very difficult to slow him down.

His abilities include Jeet Kune Do, a combination of powerful punches and kicks; Yat Jee Chung Kuen, rapid punches; K’un-Lun Lick, a strong flying kick that delivers more damage to players with low health; Harmony Recovery, a healing ability that also gives bonus health; Crane Leap, an ability that allows the hero to perform three consecutive jumps; and Dragon’s Defense, a defensive move that gives him bonus health.

Iron Fist is extremely overpowered in close combat as defending against his punches and kicks is almost impossible. Since his attacks deal so much damage, players try to dash away from him, but his Crane Leap ability allows him to swiftly move as well. Iron Fist’s most powerful ability is Living Chi as it boosts his speed, damage and attack range, making him a powerhouse on the battlefield.

NetEase Games must nerf some other Marvel Rivals characters as well

Iron Fist definitely needs a nerf as other heroes just can’t keep up, but it is not only Iron Fist who possesses a broken ability set. Characters like Venom, Moon Knight, Winter Soldier, and The Punisher, need some nerfs as the game becomes really unbalanced when players abuse these heroes’ abilities in matches.

Since some characters have powerful abilities compared to others, all players are currently rushing to pick them. The matchmaking process is severely affected because of this as many players only want to pick duelists, ruining the team composition. Players have suggested that NetEase Games could steal this one concept from Overwatch 2, however, there is a possibility that it will further ruin Marvel Rivals.
