University of Florida board on verge of picking site for Jacksonville graduate campus

The University of Florida board could make a long-awaited decision this week on selecting a site for a planned graduate campus in the downtown Jacksonville area.

UF and the city have been in talks over the past two years about the university building a graduate campus in Jacksonville financed by a mix of state, city and private funding.

The prospect of a UF campus in Jacksonville has locked up $250 million in funding — $150 million from the state, $50 million from the city of Jacksonville and $50 million from private donors.

The University of Florida already has a long-time presence in Jacksonville through UF Health Jacksonville and its teaching hospital affiliated with UF colleges of medicine, nursing and pharmacy.
