It is not a common scenario that thousands of gamers sign a petition that’s also about some limited-time themes. This rare thing recently happened to Sony, within a few days after it celebrated the 30th anniversary of PlayStation with all the PS5 players. The party has just ended, and already players have started begging not to remove one beloved feature that was added as part of the celebration.

December 3, 2024, was the 30th anniversary of PlayStation. This gaming console has gone through tons of ups and downs to make its place in the gaming world. Therefore, a grand celebration of its turning 30 is expected. To make it more special for PS5 players, Sony released a special 30th anniversary PS5 edition, but something else drew the attention more than it.

Sony went all out for the 30th-anniversary celebration of its gaming console and released new events, updates, and limited-time accessories for PS5 players to access.

When on December 2, PS5 players booted their consoles, they received the surprises Sony prepared for them. Taking them down memory lane, this Japanese multinational company brought back nostalgic themes from PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. 

The anniversary event update allowed PS5 players to switch to any nostalgic start-up screen and audio options from these older gen-consoles. Unfortunately, the moment this update installation is done, players get the notification that all these added features are for a limited *******. This is where this petition is rooted. 

Since PS5 was released in 2020, gamers have been asking Sony to bring interesting themes and music to the console, just like it did to the previous ones. With this anniversary celebration event, the company almost granted their desire, but now they aren’t ready to let go of these customization options anymore.

on Change.org, and surprisingly, more than 4000 players have already signed it. The ask is simple: Sony must keep the PS5 30th anniversary themes forever. 

This is remarkable how PS5 players are so attached to those old themes and audio of PS consoles that they not only welcome it in 2024 but don’t even want to let go.

2024 was an average year for this game publisher company. While PlayStation received a few massively successful games, it lost the battle of handheld consoles to Steam Deck. However, this gaming giant is renowned for making controversial decisions, bringing backlash.

Even at this point, despite all these requests and petitions, this Tokyo-based company is completely silent about this matter. Here’s one thing to note: no matter how much interest a petition draws, generally, it never gets any response from the target company. Considering this, it doesn’t look like Sony will actually respond to this.

Anyway, there’s no harm in keeping the anniversary themes, because PS5 never had this kind of customizable theme before, and having these won’t interrupt anything.

Neither of these will cause them any copyright issues, nor will these bring some functional problems to the console. So, apparently, there’s no harm in allowing players to go back to the old times with the soundtracks and themes. 

Completing a 30-year journey is already a huge achievement, and that’s also with millions of users worldwide. Therefore, it will be a golden chance for the Tokyo-based company to fulfill one of the long-asked wishes of the users by keeping these anniversary themes and soundtracks permanently.

It can wisely use this opportunity to introduce new special themes and music for PS5 to make the fanbase stronger than before.

Well, what Sony is planning isn’t sure, as the company hasn’t released any official statement about withdrawing the limited-time tag from these anniversary surprises. Anyway, PS5 gamers must use this time and enjoy these songs and themes before the ending day comes.
