Perth Weather: WA set to see warm weather as summer finally arrives with top temperatures in the high 30s

Perth is in for a warm and sunny week, with WA finally kicking off the summer season.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, this summer is expected to be warmer than average, reaching above the average maximum temperatures.

Unlike the recent unseasonal rain, this week’s upcoming warm weather is consistent with a classic WA summer.

“It looks like summer is finally coming next week, and it’s going to be consistently warm for at least four or five days,” a Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said.

“So it’s going to be a typical summer pattern where we do get a trough down the west coast, and it’s going to hang there for those few days and bring those high 30 degree temperatures.”

There are no 40C days forecast yet but there is a chance it will get very close next week if the sea breeze stays out.

“Some of the models are indicating it could get close to 40C later next week. That would depend on that trough that I mentioned down the west coast. So at this stage there is a slight chance it could reach 40C later next week,” the spokesperson said.

Despite the sunny forecast, the possibility of rainfall is not completely off the table for the metro area.

“On Sunday, the Perth area may pick up a shower or thunderstorm just in that morning *******.”

“In terms of rainfall next week, we do have a central tropical low developing off the Pilbara coast next week, so there is uncertainty whether that will bring rain to Perth”.

Perth’s upcoming warm weather is an indication of what this summer ******* will look like.

“We are going for above 80 per cent medium maximum temperatures for the summer, so that’s indicating it’s going to be warmer,” the spokesperson added.

“It’s probably looking less likely we’ll get those frequent heat waves coming through.”

Saturday December 7: Max of 33C, min 15C and sunny.

Sunday December 8: Max 34C, min 21C and partly cloudy with a medium chance of showers in the morning.

Monday December 9: Max 32C, min 20C and sunny.

Tuesday December 10: Max 34C, min 18C and sunny.

Wednesday December 11: Max 26C, min 18C and sunny.

Thursday December 12: Max 37C, min 22C and sunny.
