The Call of Duty franchise has changed a lot over the past decade. Many complained that the developers were slowly steering away from the elements that made the franchise popular in the first place. ****** Ops 6‘s campaign is indeed exceptional, however, it still isn’t the best campaign in Call of Duty history. The franchise is well-known for its exciting single-player mode, but if we had to pick one, it would be the campaign from one Call of Duty game that deserves an apology from every Call of Duty fan.

Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ Campaign Deserves More Love

2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts was the tenth major installment in the Call of Duty series. At the time of its release in 2013, the game was met with mixed reviews from critics. The campaign touched more upon the Ghosts, remnants of elite U.S. Special Operations Forces teams. It featured a completely new setting, characters, and system but was criticized for being lengthy and challenging.

Ghosts‘ campaign wasn’t bad, it is just that it was released after 2012’s ****** Ops 2. Today, many fans in the Call of Duty community will agree that many players still want to see reskinned ****** Ops 1 and 2. These games were certainly extraordinary but the franchise had to move in a new direction and Ghosts was the first step, in fact, it was the first game that introduced a unique Zombies-like game mode that many fans don’t even know about.

Call of Duty: Ghosts also featured an alternative co-operative shooter mode titled Extinction. Similar to Zombies, four players team up to ****** Cryptids in outbreak sites that are full of these ancient creatures. In the game mode, players have objectives, which are to ******** cryptid Hives and complete challenges.

To this day, many fans still hate Activision for not expanding upon this idea. The game mode had a lot of potential and would certainly be a great alternative to the traditional Zombies mode. The concept was perfectly tied with the game’s campaign as Extinction’s story was set in an alternate reality after the events of the campaign’s first mission, where the ODIN strike unearths ancient creatures known as Cryptids.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Infinity Ward is working on something called “Project Devilwood,” which was claimed to be a sequel to 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts. Unfortunately,

has confirmed that no such project is in development, but Activision needs to continue the Ghosts series as it ended on an annoying cliffhanger.
