Ubisoft’s Downfall Needs to Be Studied After Trashing Watch Dogs’ Direct Link With *********’s Creed

It is not wise for a developer to ignore fans’ demands and cause a downturn that affects the long-built renown. Unavoidably, Ubisoft has been facing the worst time after delivering back-to-back flop titles. Notably, in 2024 all the Ubisoft games that were released met the same tragic fate.

Even though there was a great chance for the French video game company to turn the tables by connecting two of its immensely successful franchises, Watch Dogs and *********’s Creed, it instead ruined one of these franchises. Eventually, these events dragged the company to where it is now. 

Darcy Could Have Been the Trump Card to Change the Scenario

The ******** of the Far Cry developer is prominent at this point, but it started much earlier with Watch Dogs: Legion. The Watch Dogs series and *********’s Creed series were the two most potential gaming series, but after the ******** of Watch Dogs: Legion in 2020, the French video game company reportedly abandoned this action-adventure franchise. 

In 2012, when this action-adventure series was introduced, it blew the minds of Ubisoft fans with its impressive visuals and a protagonist who could hack literally everything he could see. Fans almost unanimously agreed that WD is just the modern-day *********’s Creed with its protagonist good at parkour, stealthy movements, and similar mission designs. 

Even the developer was initially emphasizing this point by adding multiple *********’s Creed easter eggs to the WD games. The bridge was almost made to connect these two games, and Darcy could be that link to connect them.

With her being the canon, Ubisoft had an impressive opportunity to create a different storyline that players have been waiting for, but this French company messed things up.

Since Darcy is not canon, we were able to take more liberties with her character and we can’t wait for fans of both series to check it out!

Fans clearly didn’t like this idea that the team missed by not making Darcy the canon. There was a massive chance of creating a new universe, spanning these two franchises. Even the timeline difference between these two games could effectively contribute to the stories of ISU. 

By missing this chance, the Prince of Persia makers not only lose the opportunity to revive both gaming franchises but also miss the most convenient way of avoiding its ***** that has already landed.

After back-to-back failures over the years, the French video game company has been going through the worst time ever. With the pathetic ******** of Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft stocks have touched the bottom line, which has caused internal troubles in the company.

Reportedly, some shareholders even proposed a layoff to tackle this situation. In this turbulent situation, all hopes are centered around the upcoming *********’s Creed Shadows. 

To revive what it has lost and also to survive in the competitive world of gaming, this once-gigantic developer company has turned to its massively popular franchise, *********’s Creed. If this upcoming installment fails, it will be tough for the company to carry on with its further plans.

Considering this, it is pretty understandable that the developer company isn’t ready to take any risk and make sure everything is in place before releasing this title. Therefore, pushing the title completely makes sense. However, the challenge isn’t over, though, because February 2025 will also bring some super-hyped games like Avowed and Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Anyway, it seems like Ubisoft is ready to take this risk, and it has no other way to save its existence without it.
