After Octopath Traveler, Another Tactical RPG Probably Heading to New Platforms Following Nintendo eShop Delisting

Square Enix has confirmed that its 2022 tactical role-playing game Triangle Strategy has been delisted from the Nintendo Switch eShop. This news comes a few months after another one of Square Enix’s games, Octopath Traveler, was delisted. When the game returned, its publisher on the store had been changed from Nintendo to Square Enix, so fans speculate that Triangle Strategy is getting the same treatment.

This news might be good for console users, particularly PlayStation fans, as there is a possibility that Triangle Strategy might be coming to consoles. Just six weeks after Octopath Traveler returned to the Nintendo Switch eShop, it was confirmed that the game was coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Triangle Strategy was never released for consoles, so this transition may allow the studio to work on console ports.

Square Enix’s Triangle Strategy Has Been Delisted From The Nintendo Switch eShop

In an official X post, ********* video game publisher Square Enix confirmed that its Triangle Strategy, one of the most popular tactical role-playing games in the world, has been delisted from the Nintendo Switch eShop. This change will not affect players who already own the game as they can continue playing it.

Triangle Strategy is temporarily unavailable to purchase on Nintendo Switch eShop. Those who have already bought the game will be able to download it.

We are working on this and will update when the game is able to be purchased again.

The studio has assured the fans that this is temporary and will update the community once its available on the store again. This is not new for Square Enix as their 2018 RPG Octopath Traveler was also delisted earlier this year. The game returned with a different publisher so fans believe that Triangle Strategy is also going through a publisher change.

Is Triangle Strategy Coming To Consoles?

The return of Octopath Traveler was certainly exciting but Square Enix unexpectedly announced that the game would be released for PlayStation 4 and 5. With the studio following the same pattern as Triangle Strategy, there are speculations that the game might be coming to Xbox and PlayStation consoles very soon. Fans aren’t exactly happy with Square Enix but a console release of Triangle Strategy would help in fixing the studio’s image.

This temporary removal of the game allowed gamers to discuss why physical copies are better than digital ones. The studio has made it clear that the game will come back soon so players don’t have to worry. Those who have already purchased the game can install and play it just like the way it was.

Many fans agree that Triangle Strategy needs to hit the consoles as the game has been highly praised for its combat, narrative, score, and art direction. The development of the game was led by Tomoya Asano, who was also the producer of Octopath Traveler.
