Super-Hit Playable Villain From Marvel vs Capcom 3 Didn’t Make It to the Game

One of the most anticipated titles of the year, Marvel Rivals‘ release, is just less than a week away now. A crossover between Marvel Entertainment and NetEase Games, this is a free-to-play third-person hero shooter.

Marvel Rivals is all set to feature 33 unique, playable heroes and villains from the Marvel multiverse at launch. While the game’s roster looks incredible so far, it’s a big shame that it doesn’t include the most iconic villain from Marvel vs Capcom 3, Taskmaster.

Marvel Rivals Deserves a Menace Like Taskmaster

One of Marvel’s most iconic villains who debuted all the way back in 1980, Taskmaster has been a menace for a range of characters, ranging from Ant-Man to the Avengers themselves. Even in the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, he absolutely dominates every opponent because of his ability to mimic the fighting styles.

Taskmaster’s entire gimmick is the ability to remember and perfectly replicate the physical fighting styles of his opponents, which makes him an equal match for many of Marvel’s most powerful superheroes that rely on tenacity and strength. Due to this overpowered ability, Taskmaster can prove to be quite difficult to adapt to, especially in a video game.

Considering the fact that we have a lot of melee-based heroes in Marvel Rivals, the addition of Taskmaster will be perfect. The character could serve as a support role and use his mimicry to assist his teammates against other heroes such as Captain America, Iron Fist, Winter Soldier, and Wolverine.

In the Marvel universe, Taskmaster also wields a variety of powerful weapons that integrate quite well with his abilities. NetEase could leverage his weapons and make him a hard-hitter.

You might think that Taskmaster’s mimicry ability might make him a broken character in the game, but the developers could always make the ability last for a short time or make him vulnerable while he studies his opponents.

Taskmaster is a perfect fit for a hero-shooter like Marvel Rivals. Let’s hope the developer recognizes the potential of this character and brings him to the game with post-launch additions. It would truly be a shame to never see Task Master wreaking havoc in the game!

Recently, Marvel Rivals

gave us a look at five more characters who will join the battlefield at launch. These include Cloak, Dagger, ****** Widow, Squirrel Girl, Iron Fist, and Wolverine.

While fans have appreciated most of the character designs in the game, Wolverine’s appearance hasn’t been received well. Many fans believe that the character looks out of place, and his design initially seemed fake to them.

Even though Wolverine’s design is questionable, it’s probably intentional to make players spend their hard-earned money on alternate skins. We’ve seen a similar approach in Marvel Avengers as well.

Considering how popular Wolverine is among Marvel fans, thanks to Hugh Jackman’s portrayal in all the X-Men films, it’s likely that more skins will be brought for the character in the future.

The future’s looking bright for the hero-shooter, and NetEase wouldn’t miss capitalizing on the hype and is likely to align the game with the trend of monetizing skins.

With that said, would you like to see any other character in Marvel Rivals? Let us know in the comments below.
