Todd Howard Must Avoid Star Citizen’s Worst Blunder in Elder Scrolls 6

It’s fair to say that the Elder Scrolls 6 has some massive boots to fill if Bethesda is looking to carry on the precedent it established with Skyrim. It’s been more than a decade since the debut of Skyrim, and it’s still enjoyed to this day and is truly Todd Howard’s magnum opus.

We still don’t have an actual release date for Elder Scrolls 6. The only thing we know so far is that the game has entered into production. However, if Howard and his team really want the title to become the next generational hit, it must avoid Star Citizen’s worst mistake, which has tanked the game’s reputation.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Doesn’t Need An Early Reveal Like Star Citizen

There’s no doubt that one of the biggest trends in the gaming industry right now is announcing a full reveal of a game even before it’s ready to launch. Developers believe that it is necessary to keep all the components in place and not to make false promises that won’t end up coming to the game.

However, what happens in reality is that even though a game is announced early, a lot of its content gets cut during development, and early reveals lead to miscommunication among players, who expected something different from the final product.

The biggest culprit of this problem is none other than Star Citizen. If you’ve forgotten, the game was announced way back in 2012. The early reveal of the title promised many things, including massive space exploration, realistic graphics, and a gameplay design that’s never been seen before.

While there’s a build of the game you can play right now, it’s nowhere near what was promised back then. What’s worse is that the Star Citizen‘s development has stretched for years now, and the excitement among players has turned into frustration. The game’s development is a mess, and it isn’t meeting the expectations.

Instead of Todd Howard and his team revealing Elder Scrolls 6 early to generate buzz in the gaming community, they need to make sure that the game’s development is on the right track and craft something that players are craving.

This might lead to Bethesda delaying the game’s reveal, but it would lead to a finished product that delivers what is promised at its reveal. Bethesda needs to hit the mark for its most beloved franchise this time, and it must stay away from announcing the game before it’s necessary.

Elder Scrolls 6 Will Decide Bethesda’s Future

The last couple of years have been an absolute horror for Bethesda. All of the studio’s recent games, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Starfield, were incredibly hyped but couldn’t manage to establish themselves in the gaming industry.

Starfield, in particular, proved to be a disaster for Howard and his team. The game was in development for years and was supposed to be right up there with Bethesda’s other iconic franchises. However, upon its initial debut, it was bashed with criticism as it ******* to bring meaningful gameplay.

Bethesda tried its best to fix the game’s issues with numerous updates and even a full-fledged DLC. However, it couldn’t solve the game’s core issues, which frustrated players even more.

Considering the studio’s recent failures, it’s not a surprise that gamers are worried about the next Elder Scrolls game. Many believe that the studio has lost touch with reality and can’t make a good game ever again.

If Bethesda doesn’t make a worthy successor to Skyrim, it might have a fate worse than Sony’s Concord experiment with Firewalk Studios.
