Rebellion’s ******* Elite Resistance is all set to drop in January 2025. It’s a full-blown entry in the developer’s ******* Elite franchise and a companion piece to ******* Elite 5. The upcoming game features a full-single player campaign that runs Karl Fairburne’s journey.

Gamers were hyped to ***** into this title and look at the future of the franchise by Rebellion. However, the anticipation around the title has now faded away as players have realized that it’s using the same tactic that Ubisoft employed in the Far Cry franchise.

, ******* Elite Resistance‘s level designer, Beck Shaw, opened up about the development of the game and defended the reusing of assets in video games. According to him, if Rebellion hadn’t reused assets in a game like ******* Elite Resistance, it would’ve taken ages to develop.

Reuse allows us to push out a full game again in a short ******* of time. If we were making everything from scratch again it would really drastically increase that development time.

Rebellion’s development team might’ve saved itself from crunch using such tactics, but the gaming community hasn’t taken this too well. Players have labeled Rebellion’s reuse of assets as a “lazy game design,” which will be quite obvious once the game eventually drops.

It’s mind-boggling how Rebellion hasn’t learned from the tragedy of the Far Cry franchise. If you’re unaware, back when Far Cry Primal dropped, there was a massive community outrage as the game had recycled assets and its entire map from Far Cry 4.

Gamers couldn’t help but wonder why Ubisoft wouldn’t work on assets and features for a franchise that’s a top seller for the studio. If developers are going to charge us $50 for a game, it better bring new experiences to the table.

A few months ago, it was revealed that Rebellion is planning to expand the ******* Elite franchise into a multiplayer space with a title dubbed “Project Archipelago.” However, it seems like this game would never see the light of the day.

suggest that Rebellion has canned Project Archipelago. The title was also called “******* Island” and was supposed to be a Battle Royale title pitting teams of gamers against each other.

The reason behind the game’s cancellation was a lack of funding from Tencent, which was supporting the project. According to Rebellion’s staff, the horrible tragedy of Concord influenced Tencent’s decision to pull the cord from Project Archipelago.

It’s sad to see that Project Archipelago won’t be hitting the shelves, but it hasn’t affected Rebellion’s plans for the future of ******* Elite Resistance.
