CLEVELAND (WJW) – If you are traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday in Northeast Ohio, you’ll want to double-check the forecast before hitting the roads.

says the forecast might get a little dicey for traveling around the holiday. But, if you are headed out on Wednesday, roads should stay clear.

By Wednesday evening, on the other hand, scattered rain will move into the area from the west and south, but it should generally be light.

That rain will turn into a mix and eventually chance to snow overnight Wednesday into early Thursday morning.

According to Dontae’s forecast, there should be some light accumulation, especially in our southern areas, which will see about an inch of snow or less.

“Roads may just be wet and a little slick heading into Thursday morning,” Dontae said.

Any precipitation on Thursday morning will move east into Pennsylvania, so if you’re headed in that direction in the morning you may run into that. Much of the area will have no travel impacts from Thanksgiving afternoon into next week.

If you’re traveling on I-90 eastbound in the snowbelt then you might have delays as we could see snow measured in feet Friday through Tuesday of next week. If so, you may want to plan an alternate route there.

The snowbelt looks to receive multiple rounds of lake-effect snow. We’ll continue to monitor and adjust the forecast accordingly as we get closer.
