An urgent recall has been issued on Volkswagen Amarok utes over a manufacturing default that could cause ****** or injury

More than 700 utes have been urgently recalled across Australia because of a manufacturing default that could cause ****** or serious injury.

The driver’s seatbelt on all Volkswagen Amarok models made between 2023 and 2024 may have been anchored incorrectly.

The federal Department of Transport has issued the notice, which said the seat belt may not operate as intended.

A department spokesperson said in the event of an accident, if the seat belt did not operate as intended, the occupant may not receive the full protection of the seatbelt system.

“This could increase the risk of injury or ****** to vehicle occupants,” the spokesperson said.

“Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Volkswagen Group Australia to schedule an appointment to have the work carried out, free of charge.”

The Department of Transport has a list of affected vehicle identification numbers on its website or contact Volkswagon Group Australia for more information.
