Sony has updated PlayStation’s website with a timeline chronicling 30 years of the iconic gaming brand.

that 160 million PS2 consoles have been sold worldwide since its launch in 2000.

This is the same sales figure mentioned in March by former Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, during an Official PlayStation Podcast released to coincide with his retirement.

Either way, PS2 ******** the best-selling console of all-time, ahead of Nintendo DS and Nintendo Switch, which had sold 154.02 million units and 146.04 million units respectively as of September 2024, according to Nintendo.

Sony recently launched PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary Collection, which includes grey PS5 Digital and PS5 Pro consoles.

It also released limited edition versions of the PlayStation Portal, DualSense Edge controller and the standard DualSense pad, designed to pay homage to the original PlayStation.
