Fremantle Dockers draftees Murphy Reid and Charlie Nicholls move in with Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong

Fremantle draftees Murphy Reid and Charlie Nicholls have moved in with stars Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong as they prepare for their first day the club on Monday.

The Dockers selected Reid from Victoria’s Sandringham Dragons with pick 17 while Nicholls joined the club with the 34th selection after playing in South Australia for Central District.

The pair flew into Perth on Saturday and were met by Fremantle’s vice-captains who will help them to settle into Western Australia in the coming weeks.

Brayshaw also played for Sandringham Dragons before joining the Dockers which made him the ideal person for Reid to live with.

Nicholls is from country South Australia and his family run a wheat and sheep farm. Serong grew up in country Victoria which means he can also relate to the Fremantle recruit’s journey.

Dockers coach Justin Longmuir travelled to meet Nicholls at the farm after the draft.

Serong moved in with Nat Fyfe when he first arrived in Perth from Victoria while Brayshaw lived with Lachie Neale as they became accustomed to their new way of life..

The Dockers used their final selection to select South Fremantle’s Jaren Carr as a father-son pick. His dad Matthew was a star for Fremantle and Jaren trained with his new teammates on Friday.

The club also added Claremont ruckman Aiden Riddle to the rookie list on Friday. The new faces will gather together on Monday as the full squad trains for the first time this pre-season.

Fremantle’s youngsters have been training for nearly a fortnight and travelled to Karratha last week for a Community Camp. The experienced players always receive extra time off but many have been at training sessions already.

The Dockers have plenty of motivation for pre-season after a shattering finish to their 2024 campaign. Fremantle lost their last four matches to ****** from third to 10th.

Fremantle also bolstered the list with exciting Richmond forward Shai Bolton but he will have a delayed start to life in WA after remaining in Victoria for the birth of his second child.

Bolton and partner Hasina announced the arrival of their daughter last week.

The dual premiership player promises to be an exciting addition to Fremantle’s team with his ability to kick goals as a forward and also use his explosive pace in the midfield.

The Dockers traded picks 10, 11 and 18 for Bolton, pick 14 and Richmond’s future third round pick during October.
