‘Two thirds back assisted dying’ and ‘****** ready to cripple Britain’

Several front pages lead with stories on the upcoming vote in Parliament on legalising assisted dying in England and Wales. The Sunday Times reports on a new poll which indicates 65% of the country supports the move – with 13% opposing it. The study of more than 17,000 people also found that those who had lost a parent in the past five years are 18 points more likely to support assisted dying, the paper says.

The Observer carries comments from Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood, who says MPs risk putting the country on a “slippery slope towards ****** on demand” if they back the move. “Nerd hobbies like gaming and superheroes” have become more popular than football, according to the Daily Star. The paper says young people now prefer these “geeky hobbies”, noting wryly that it “looks like the nerds finally have their revenge”.
