The 60fps+ Dark Souls 3 Remaster Reportedly in the Works Goes Everything Against the Hidetaka Miyazaki Brand

A recent rumor claims that Dark Souls 3 Remaster is presently being developed. Although this rumored remaster of one of FromSoftware’s well-known Soulsborne games would likely include graphics updates and enhance the game’s overall performance on current-generation consoles, it’s still an odd move if it’s real.

FromSoftware’s Soulsborne games gained popularity after Elden Ring, so the recently growing fan base is likely to embrace another remaster of the Dark Souls series. When a Dark Souls 2 Remaster or a Bloodborne port is more eagerly awaited, fans have been patiently hoping for a FromSoftware game, and this rumored Dark Souls 3 Remaster is most likely not that.

These days, remasters are so popular that even games that have held up well over time, like Horizon Zero Dawn, are getting them. However, this time it’s about Dark Souls 3, a beloved game that could use some new life. According to sources cited by industry insider

, the highly regarded game is undergoing a makeover.

The Dark Souls 3 Remaster will run “a little bit more” than 60 frames per second, the first for any Souls game, though Nick won’t give away any more information.

This, along with bug fixes, an updated engine, and visual enhancements, should make it an immediate hit with fans. It’s not shocking that Dark Souls 3 will be remastered, as even the original Dark Souls was remastered in 2018.

Additionally, when the game was released in 2016, the genre was not very well-known. If Elden Ring was your first FromSoftware game, you won’t hesitate to try the Dark Souls 3 Remaster.

As of right now, it’s unclear who will be working on the port, but if the ****** Souls remake is any indication, FromSoftware will probably continue working with Bluepoint Games.

Do We Really Need a Dark Souls 3 Remaster?

Art direction has always taken precedence over graphical fidelity in FromSoftware titles. Art direction is where FromSoftware games excel outside of combat and the rich but frequently perplexing lore, but this also means that the games don’t appear to have changed all that much in terms of graphics.

From Dark Souls 2 to Bloodborne, there was a significant graphic leap, but the Soulsborne anthology hasn’t had one since. Even though it looks better, there isn’t much of a graphical fidelity difference between DS3 and the highly regarded Elden Ring.

Since Bloodborne will turn ten years old next year, the FromSoftware fan base has been urging for years for the game to be released on PC, but it seems unlikely.

When the PS6 is released, the game might receive a complete remake in the style of ****** Souls, or it might simply be a remaster with 60FPS gameplay and some updated graphics. In any case, since the Old Hunters DLC was released, not much has been done with the IP, so Bloodborne needs some love.

The question of why Bloodborne, which came out a year before Dark Souls 3, isn’t receiving the same attention is unavoidable. Sony, the IP owner, most likely has that saved up for a bad quarter or as a launch title for the PlayStation 6. In any case, we are forced to wait.
