Final Fantasy 7 remake part 3’s plot ‘is complete’ as the game enters full production

The plot for the third part in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has been completed and the game has entered full development, according to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase.

Speaking at G-**** 2024 in Korea, while the pair wouldn’t be drawn on further details about the game’s plot, they did mention that work on the game’s plot has been completed and that the team is now focussed on the game itself.

, Kitase also said: “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth provided a vast map, but in the third game, the Highwind (airship) will appear, so we need to let you experience the world from a higher perspective.

“We won’t cheat with the airship system, but challenge it head-on so that players can freely fly around the map.”

The first two parts of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake were released in 2020 and 2024, meaning Part 3 will likely still be a number of years away.

Earlier this year, Hamaguchi said he’s confident the third part will be one of the greatest video games ever made.

VGC’s review of the second entry, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, calls it “an excellent RPG with some of the best characters in the gaming canon”.

“While some open-world content skirts the edges, and the game’s main narrative is left somewhat deflated, the time spent with Aerith, Tifa, and the gang makes this a hugely enjoyable road trip you’ll be playing for hundreds of hours,” we wrote.
