Melbourne *******’s NBL game against Adelaide 36ers erupts as fans clash with players during match

Melbourne *******’s game against Adelaide 36ers has exploded at the start of the final quarter with Adelaide players getting involved in a scuffle with fans and players from both teams getting ejected.

******* led 85-73 at John Cain Arena when Adelaide star and former NBA star Montrezl Harrell took exception to Melbourne’s Rob Loe after a charging foul. Shea Ili quickly reacted to the confrontation sparking a heated exchange that to both players getting ejected.

But the drama soared as players returned to their benches for a video review of the incident as fans sitting next to the Adelaide bench started engaging with the visiting team.

Harrell was ****** at their comments and then a fan shoved DJ Vasiljevic prompting chaos as officials tried to hold players back. Security and Melbourne ******* staff removed the fans from their seats and one man left the arena with his hood covering his face.

“It’s rare that you see that level of aggression from a fan,” former star Derek Rucker said.

*********** basketball icon Andrew Gaze expressed similar concerns.

“That’s one of the privileges of coming to the basketball. You get to be up close and personal but you’ve got to know you can’t get involved in the emotion,” he said.

The delays from the incident will force the starting time of Perth Wildcats’ away game against Brisbane Bullets to be pushed back. It was due to start at 1.30pm.
