Man, 83, believed ***** after ***** at retirement community

An 83-year-old man is believed to have been ******* after a ***** tore through a unit at a retirement community north of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to the Morayfield Rd complex at Burpengary about 9pm on Monday following reports of a ***** in one of the units.

When crews arrived they found the unit well alight, with residents from neighbouring units evacuated.

After the ***** was extinguished, police found a single body inside.

While the body has not been formally identified, police believe it is an 83-year-old male resident who has not been accounted for.

A ****** scene has since been declared at the site by police, with detectives investigating the cause of the *****.

They are calling on anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward.
