It Takes Two studio Hazelight says it will announce ‘new stuff’ later this year

Hazelight has teased that its next game may be announced later this year.

In a post on its official X account, the studio noted that its 10th anniversary will be in November, and that while it will be looking back at its previous achievements in the near future, it will reveal “new (real good) stuff” later in the year.

“In November we’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of Hazelight,” the post reads.

“*****, it’s nostalgic looking back at Josef accepting a Bafta for Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons back in March 2014. The crazy success of that game is why he founded Hazelight soon after.

“Sure, we got new (real good) stuff cooking that we’ll talk more about later this year. But right now we want to take you on a trip down memory lane and show you some of the never-before-seen moments that got us here. More to come soon.”

Last month Hazelight claimed that its last game, It Takes Two, had sold over 16 million units in its first three years, and was played by more than 30 million people.

Hazelight specialises in co-op adventures, with both its releases to date – It Takes Two and A Way Out – only playable in two-player co-op, with no single-player mode available.

In an interview with VGC back in 2022, Hazelight founder Josef Fares discussed the studio’s next game.

“We’re making good progress, but there’s a lot more to do,” Fares told us at the time, saying it would be “a surprise in a good way” and adding: “It’s definitely going in the right direction. And it’ll be something really ******** cool.”
