“This card is *****.” Pokemon TCG Misty Card With Controversial Effect Drives a Wedge Amongst Players

Players are rapidly determining which decks, cards, and strategies are safe, which are powerful, and which are wildly inconsistent as the current Pokemon TCG meta continues to shake out. Whether they are using it or facing an opponent who has it, everyone seems to agree that Misty is the card they detest the most.

Misty is a Supporter card, which is a card type that you can play once every turn to gain an advantage. Misty has the following effect and is specifically made to be used in decks that contain water-type Pokemon: Select a water-type Pokemon, then flip a coin until you get tails. Take the energy of the water type from your energy zone and attach it to that Pokemon for each head.

Misty Has Become the Most Controversial Card in Pokemon TCG

Pokemon need energy to ******* their opponents, but you can usually only give them one energy per turn. The purpose of Misty is to rapidly power up a single water-type Pokemon so that it can launch an energy-intensive ******* immediately instead of needing to wait two, three, four, or more turns to do so.

Unfortunately, Misty’s effectiveness is solely dependent on coin flips, so if you flip tails right away, she can be completely useless; if you flip more heads than you need, she can become so overpowered that she is ridiculous. As a result, those who use Misty in their decks naturally complain about her constantly flipping tails.

There are many debates about whether or not the card design should be altered as a result of the frustrations with Misty’s tendency for luck. With the creation of a special event in the game that uses water-type Pokemon and allows players to ****** an AI with a deck that includes Misty and a few Pokemon that can completely ******** an opponent on turn one with lucky coin flips those conversations have only gotten more heated.

What Is the Issue with Misty in Pokemon TCG?

Aside from her luck-heavy mechanic, the main complaint from players is that if a Misty user is lucky enough to draw her turn one, they may use her to ******* their opponent on that turn.

In order to ensure that going second isn’t a significant disadvantage, the game forbids attaching energy on turn one, which usually prevents players from attacking on the first turn. However, an Articuno EX, a lucky Misty flip, and a lucky Misty draw are a surefire way to end up in trouble.

Some players are speculating that her coin flips are rigged or bugged in some way because the issue is so severe. By pointing out that Misty users frequently give up the game right away after playing her and flipping a single tail on their first try, others are just trying their way through it.

It’s unclear if the player’s frustration with Misty’s mechanic will result in her being nerfed, buffed, or altered in any other way. Now, it’s up to the developers , how they will shape up the controversial card.
