Prime Video, and fans of the legendary post-apocalyptic franchise are excited. It’s an all-original story deeply rooted in the series’ canon, and it boasts a fantastic cast that has worked tirelessly to market the show to the millions of fans who have waited for this moment for years.

Recently, Todd Howard and Jonathan Nolan sat down with Den of Geek in an interview aimed at ‘clearing the air’ about whether the upcoming TV show would serve as a ‘replacement’ for Fallout 5. It won’t, but Todd Howard and his colleagues had something much juicier to admit in the interview.

It’s believed that it’ll be several years before we see anything on the Fallout 5 front. There’s one thing we know, and that’s that Bethesda Game Studios will deliver The Elder Scrolls 6 first – and even that’s years away. It has also been suggested that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be Todd Howard’s last game, so it’ll be interesting to see how his Fallout 5-related comments bear fruit.

There’s absolutely nothing known about Fallout 5 – not for a lack of me trying to find anything out from my sources – and it’s totally open to speculation at present. In an ideal world, I’d love to see a Fallout game set in the immediate aftermath of The Great War, with the player assuming control of characters desperate to learn how to survive in a world decimated by the nuclear holocaust. It would be gritty, deeply realistic, and riddled with survival elements, and it would serve as a perfect origin story for the wasteland setting that millions of us have come to know and love.

, Todd Howard made a telling comment that lets us know he’s got Fallout 5 all figured out:

Well, there were some things where I said, ‘Don’t do this because we are going to do that in Fallout 5.’

In a similar sentiment, Jonathan Nolan, an executive producer on the Fallout TV show, said:

We know all about Fallout 5, we’re not telling anyone.

It was remarked that this was a quip made in a facetious manner, so take that with a pinch of salt – but it’s difficult to see a world in which this relationship has been built without some information changing hands. If there’s any kind of a universe being kicked off with the Fallout TV series, it’ll easily want to align with what’s planned for Fallout 5 – whatever that might look like.

Do you think Todd Howard already has the full story bored out for Fallout 5?
