It’s Nothing to Do With Arrowhead, The Players are the Culprit

Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 is undoubtedly one of the most popular games of 2024. Just a few months after its February release, the game’s hype was almost *****, but Arrowhead has now managed to turn things around by fixing many gameplay elements. All this time, the developers at Arrowhead have been mercilessly bashed for taking the fun out of the game. However, the community deserves to share the blame.

Some players in the Helldivers 2 community are very welcoming towards new players. However, the community is not free from toxicity. Many players, particularly, in higher difficulty missions, team-***** their squad members, try to rush through missions, or try to extract without their squad members. These elements in the community must be blamed for damaging Helldivers 2‘s reputation.

The Toxicity In The Helldivers 2 Community Is Ruining The Game

Helldivers 2 can be an exciting PvE co-op experience, however, playing with random players can be frustrating. Due to friendly ***** being enabled, the game gives some immature players a strong power to ruin everyone else’s game. Many players have complained about getting team-******* before extracting as some players want to have all the samples for themselves. This can get annoying and while some players choose to ignore it, some are determined to take their John Wick-style revenge.

Most of the Helldivers prefer to complete the side quests as well but some random players try to speedrun through the mission as they call for extraction after doing only the main quest, making it frustrating for everyone else. Nothing is more annoying than seeing all your hard work go to waste when someone, who hasn’t contributed at all, extracts alone.

Arrowhead Game Studios Shouldn’t Be Blamed Entirely For Helldivers 2‘s Damaged Reputation

Shortly after the release of Helldivers 2‘s first major update, Escalation of Freedom, Arrowhead realized that its strategy was not working as the game had lost most of its fanbase. The active player count was so low that players were struggling to complete weekly Major Orders, discouraging even the loyal fans. At the time, the entire blame was put on the developers at Arrowhead.

The studio was accused of not making the game exciting enough to keep the player count stable. Thanks to constant nerfs and unnecessary PSN account linking policy for PC players, the game’s Steam page was flooded with negative reviews. Ultimately, the game’s reputation was damaged completely, but Arrowhead has managed to redeem itself.

Over the past few weeks, the studio has rolled out some updates that have improved various gameplay elements and fan-favorite Stratagems, however, the toxicity still ********. This proves that it is not only Arrowhead that is ruining the game. Certainly, reporting toxic players can help but the studio needs to introduce some strict measures to take them down.

What do you think Arrowhead Game Studios should do to take down toxic players in Helldivers 2? Share your ideas in the comments!
