FBI searching home of former Myrtle Beach pastor John Paul Miller. Crowd gathers to watch

FBI officials on Friday were at the home of former Myrtle Beach pastor John Paul Miller.

Officers could be seen at Miller’s Azalea Lakes Boulevard home in the Market Common area. Bystanders said that the officers have been in the neighborhood all morning.

Miller was not at home when FBI agents began to search the home.

As of 3:45 p.m., agents were still at the home.

It is unclear why the agents are at Miller’s home. Neighbors said they heard that Miller had received a sealed search warrant from law enforcement earlier in the day. Law enforcement on the scene declined to comment on the search.

A message left with Miller’s attorney was not immediately returned. A cell phone number previously used for John Paul Miller has been changed or disconnected.

Kevin Wheeler with the FBI Columbia Field Office said that he could not provide details, only that a court-authorized law enforcement activity is taking place at Miller’s home.

In addition to FBI agents, personnel with the Horry County Sheriff’s Office were also there.

Brennan Cavanagh, spokesperson for the Horry County Sheriff’s Office, said the department is not involved in the investigation and was only there to assist the FBI.

Neighbors and bystanders took to social media to post about the officers at the home.

Protesters wearing “Justice for Mica” T-shirts were at Miller’s home and handing out small purple rubber ducks they called “Mica” ducks.

Many of the protesters have also been outside the Solid Rock ******* this summer, holding signs and chanting.
