Star Wars Outlaws Director Confirms What Feels like a Ubisoft First

Star Wars Outlaws recently dropped its story trailer, revealing not only the core plot of the title, but also its release date. Among the recent news drops is the revelation that the game will not feature an unofficial long-standing Ubisoft tradition: climbing arduous towers that would small patches of the game’s map.

As per the game’s creative director, it has been confirmed that exploration will be the way forward, which can only be a good thing for the upcoming title and future projects from the developer, Ubisoft.

/X, Star Wars Outlaws will not feature towers for players to climb. Ubisoft has been known to require such tasks to unlock small portions of a game’s map, but it seems the studio may be ready to move in a different direction.

Many games from Ubisoft have included this feature since 2012’s Far Cry 3, with other titles including Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and all of the *********’s Creed titles, which makes it a ******* shock to see them finally be removed.

So it’s safe to say that fans will likely breathe a huge sigh of relief with this news. Instead, exploration will be the only way to unlock the game’s map. Many fans of the *********’s Creed franchise could also take this as a hint that future games from Ubisoft might remove this popular feature.

The game promises vast open worlds to explore.

Thanks to the recent story trailer released for Star Wars Outlaws, fans have learned a great deal about the game’s core plot and gameplay elements, and have finally received a release date, which is August 30, 2024.

The game features smuggler Kay Vess as she navigates the galaxy’s underworld looking to buy her freedom. The story holds plenty of familiar tropes that Star Wars fans have come to know, and even some unexpected but welcome cameos, including that of everyone’s favorite scruffy-looking nerf-herder, Han Solo.

The trailer has given a good look into what is in store when the game releases and could hopefully provide gamers with hope that developers are beginning to listen to their complaints. If Ubisoft is done with towers that unlock parts of the map, it will certainly be seen as a win by many gamers.

With all that said, Star Wars Outlaws is set to release on August 30th for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, but players can also get 3 days of early access by pre-ordering either the Gold edition or the Ultimate, both of which will be over $100.

What do you think about Ubisoft removing the tower feature? Will you be picking this game up when it comes out? Let us know in the comments below!
