Fallout Fans’ Fierce Debate Over Top 2 Games for Newcomers is Getting Out of Control

After the success of the Fallout TV series, many were introduced to the Fallout video game franchise but it can be difficult to choose the best beginner-friendly Fallout game. A lot of gamers new to the franchise would naturally pick the latest game of the series, Fallout 4, however, diehard fans of the franchise believe that 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas is a better starting point thanks to better game mechanics.

Not everyone agrees with that though, as a viral post on

sparked a debate between fans of Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas. The fans of the franchise have been eagerly waiting for the next Fallout game, but it seems like it is still a decade away.

Fallout Fans Debate Over The Better Beginner-Friendly Fallout Game

Recently, a post on the r/rpg_gamers subreddit asked players to choose the more beginner-friendly option between Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas. Some believe that there is no comparison since the games were released for different generation of consoles, but even today, some fans of the franchise prefer New Vegas‘ graphics and mechanics over Fallout 4.

Without a doubt, the Fallout TV series played a key role in popularising the franchise around the world. Todd Howard, the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series, has explained in the past that he treated the show like an entry in the video game series, allowing him to explore a different storyline within the Fallout universe. The series premiered on

In a 2022 interview with

, Todd Howard revealed that Bethesda has started working on the sixth installment of the Elder Scrolls series. Howard also added that the studio will start working on Fallout 5 after the completion of Elder Scrolls VI,

Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while. We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well – They do take a while, I wish they came out faster, I really do, we’re trying as hard as we can, but we want them to be as best as they can be for everybody.

Howard also once explained that Bethesda’s other games, Starfield in particular, caused the delay. It’s hard to tell when Bethesda will start working on Fallout 5 as The Elder Scrolls VI doesn’t have an official release date yet. If everything goes as planned, the next Fallout game could be a decade away.

Which game do you think is better for beginners: Fallout 4 or Fallout: New Vegas? Share your opinion in the comments!
