We’re talking, of course, about the Recon Combat Specialty perk, which grants players a brief ******* of literal wallhacks upon respawning. One shot, one *****—one millisecond after the match begins. | Image Credit: Activision Now, we all know that Call of Duty multiplayer has always been a bit of a chaotic affair, but this new perk seems to be taking things to a whole new level. Players are already finding ways to exploit the mechanic, leading to some truly jaw-dropping (and arguably unfair) plays. The Fastest ***** in the West One particularly egregious example of the Recon Combat Specialty in action recently surfaced on the r/blackops6 subreddit. In the clip, we see a player on the Subsonic map scope in with their SVD and proceed to click an opponent’s head mere milliseconds after the match begins. Well, as seen in the video, the hangar doors on Subsonic only start to close after the match countdown begins, allowing players (who’ve equipped three of those Blue Perks) to line up an easy shot from the other end of the map. As one commenter put it: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up by This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up from discussionin This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up It’s a fair point. While the Recon perk is undoubtedly powerful, it’s the combination of the perk and the map design that’s really causing problems here. Players are already calling for changes to be made: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up by This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up from discussionin This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Some are even drawing comparisons to controversial mechanics from previous Call of Duty games: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up by This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up from discussionin This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up It’s clear that the Recon perk is causing some serious balance issues in ****** Ops 6 multiplayer. But is it really as bad as players are making it out to be? An OP Perk or a Necessary Evil? ****** Ops 6‘s Recon (“Blue”) Perks. | Image Credit: Activision While the majority of players seem to agree that the Recon perk is overpowered, there are some who argue that it serves a necessary purpose in the game. With many of ****** Ops 6‘s maps being on the smaller side, spawn trapping has become a real issue: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up by This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up from discussionin This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up This is also a fair point. Spawn trapping has always been a problem in Call of Duty, and this bonus perk does offer a way for players to ****** back against it. However, many would argue that the perk is simply too powerful in its current state: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up by This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up from discussionin This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up It’s a tough balancing act, to be sure. On one hand, the Recon perk does offer a way to combat spawn trapping and give players a fighting chance when they respawn. On the other hand, it’s clearly being abused by players who are using it to gain an unfair advantage. Ultimately, it seems like some kind of nerf to the Recon perk is inevitable. Whether that means reducing the range at which players can see enemies through walls, or Treyarch simply opting to remove/rework the perk altogether, ******** to be seen. In the meantime, players will just have to deal with the occasional wallhack-induced frustration. And who knows? Maybe we’ll see some more ridiculous clips like the one from Subsonic in the days to come. What do you think about the Recon Combat Specialty in ****** Ops 6? Is it a necessary evil, or a game-breaking mechanic that needs to be removed? Let us know in the comments below!
