The Veilguard “as long as I’m running it”

The release of BioWare’s upcoming title, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is right around the corner, and the first wave of reviews has started popping up online. While these have been positive so far, the game doesn’t come without its flaws.

Another BioWare game that’s currently in development is Mass Effect 5. It’s been years since we’ve visited the series, but players are concerned about whether the studio will approach the game just like Dragon Age: The Veilguard since they’re entirely different universes. Fortunately, that won’t be happening as long as BioWare’s boss ******** in charge.

Mass Effect 5 Will Still Feature “Photorealistic” Artstyle

BioWare had a lot to think about when it came to The Veilguard since it’s been a decade since we saw an entry in the franchise. The studio switched up many different things from previous titles. While the combat is undoubtedly one of the biggest ones, the developers have also opted for a completely unique art style.

The reception of The Veilguard‘s art style has been quite positive, but many players felt that it looked straight up like Pixar animation. While that’s not bad, some feel it doesn’t fit in a Dragon Age game. There was a concern that the cartoony art style might see a return in the upcoming BioWare games.

However, Mass Effect 5‘s project director, Michael Gamble, says that although he doesn’t agree with the Pixar comments, the Mass Effect series will continue delivering a photorealistic style just like all the previous entries.

I’m not sure I agree with the Pixar thing, but Mass Effect is photorealistic and will be as long as i’m running it.

Gamble’s reply has been received quite well by the fans of the franchise, who were hoping that BioWare doesn’t switch the art style from the original games. Some players even believe that BioWare should reuse the same tech that was seen in developing facial animations in Anthem.

Aside from that, he also confirmed that the next Mass Effect game will still maintain the same “mature tone” of the original trilogy. It’s great to see that BioWare is back on track after all it’s failures in recent failures. If the studio sticks to the roots of the series, Mass Effect 5 will be one of the biggest titles of the decade.

Mass Effect Day is Right On the Horizon

Aside from opening about the game’s tone and art style, Gamble really didn’t reveal much about Mass Effect 5. However, that could change soon as N7 Day is right around the corner.

Each year, on November 7, the studio celebrates its iconic franchise by giving us the N7 day, which is the Mass Effect Day. Since Gamble hasn’t shared much about the next game, fans are hoping that we get more official news or trailers after the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard this year.

Last time, we got a look at a 34-0-second trailer dubbed “Mass Effect Epsilon”. We also got teased with “Andromeda Distress Signal,” hinting at an outright connection with the last title.

These small clues put fans into a speculative frenzy, but still, a year later, we haven’t been given much. Only time will tell if we get some more answers the next day.

With that said, do you think BioWare is taking the right approach with Mass Effect 5? Let us know in the comments below.
