Greater Geraldton Rotary Club preparing for biggest fundraiser of the year in Rotary Radio Auction

The Rotary Club of Greater Geraldton is about to embark on its biggest fundraiser of the year: its 33rd Rotary Radio Auction.

Items will go up for bidding on Sunday, November 3, thanks to donations not only from businesses in Geraldton but from across the country.

The items will go up for bidding in half-hour blocks, with the proceeds going to the Rotary Club.

President Hugh Lavery said the money would get reinvested into the community.

“We get the funds into the club and then we distribute those to needy projects and causes around the place, mostly local, but also in other places as well,” he said.

“It’s our major fundraiser.”

According to the Rotary Club, the fundraiser enables it to keep direct contact with businesses in the community, as well as opening up to the community as a whole.

The money will go towards programs such as the Rotary WA driver education program, which provides young people with training prior to getting their license.

Telstra, Bendigo Bank, Triple M and the Geraldton Guardian are supporting the Rotary Radio Auction for 2024.

The Friday, November 1, edition of the Geraldton Guardian will feature a spread of the items available in the auction.

On Sunday, November 3, bidders can tune into Triple M 98.1 radio and call 9965 4888 between 9am and 3.30pm to place their bids.
